# Assignments

### If you have a general assignment ask yourself following questions:<br>

* *Who* is my user group? Who are my stakeholders?
* *Why* does my client want to have a VR experience? What the proposed purpose of the product? And, do we agree?
* *When* will the product be used? What does this moment look like? Is it a casual moment? Does the moment occur repetitiously?
* *Where* will the product be used? What kind of environment? What kind of feel does this environment have? Who are present? And who are not?
* *How* is the product used? Does it need support? Is that available?
* *What* are we going to make that is contributory to the clients needs and society as well?

### Brainstorming

### Conceptualization

Create a concept for your virtual reality idea.

1. Start with the spatial design: (think about spatial narrative\
   &#x20;\- create a floorplan & bubble diagram

Is the spatial narrative and spatial design clear?

Ask yourself following questions:

1. Wayfinding – how does the user understand where he is, and does he know his way through?&#x20;

2. Navigation - how does the user move from A to B: teleportation, walk-in-place, other?

3. Selection & Manipulation – how is the user able to select and manipulate actions in the experience?&#x20;

4. Feedback & feedforward – how does the user get feedback? What kind of information and what form does it have? ( visual, auditive, haptic feedback)

5. Create a top down view for every space & every event

Before creating the top-down view, ask yourself following questions:

* Where are you in the space?&#x20;
* Are you there? Do you have a body?&#x20;
* Who do you share the space with?&#x20;
* What’s your relationship towards the others?&#x20;
* Comfort space exists in the virtual world!&#x20;
* Passive spectator – active participator 1st person – 3th person How to appeal to the viewer?

3. Analytic model

* Create a moodboard ( environment, atmosphere, video - 3D, visual aspects, spatial immersion )
* Detail the top-down view storyboard (per event / per space): add text

4. Creating a prototype in Unity
5. Documentation

* composition of your team + roles + groups number/name
* A title clearly explaining the functional aspects of the project
* The logic of the VR simulation presented as a written playbook and visual storyboards ( story structure, moodboard, user flow, conceptualization, ..)
* A paragraph explaining why VR is an added value compared to the situation without\
  a VR component (min. 1/2 A4)
* A paragraph explaining the validation/testing process and conclusions (min. 1/2 A4)
* your teams experience in a multidisciplinary collaboration (min. 1/2 A4)
* conclusion of each individual in the multidisciplinary collaboration (min.10 sentences/person)
* what are the next steps to go from your prototype to a VR product (min 1/2 A4)

\
Recordings:\
\- a movieclip of a demo of your VR application: Platform: YouTube

VR application:

* a shared folder of all the assets , documents, code, clips, APK file in your teams channel
* a publication of your VR application on sidequest

6. Presentation

* Target group: who is my audience?
* How will he/she experience your production?&#x20;
* What’s the goal of your production?&#x20;
* Position/role of the user in your experience&#x20;
* Type of immersion. Why?&#x20;
* Moodboard: environment, atmosphere, video - 3D, visual aspects, spatial immersion&#x20;
* 360 map of main scene&#x20;
* Story structure and user flow (Storyboard)
